I’ve just heard that another 3 Bataka groups have joined eQuality Health in Bwindi.
Through this scheme we are hoping to make quality healthcare accessible to each and everyone of the local 60,000 population. Particular attention is being paid to ensuring that the “poorest of the poor” have equal access.
We work with Bataka* groups to make this happen.
*The funeral is a very important social event in Ugandan culture and Bataka Groups (Burial Societies) exist to support all members of the community to provide for funerals, weddings and such like. These democratic groups run at a village level, are well organised, and are trusted by the people. eQuality uses these pre-established structures to administer the scheme.
