Earlier this year one of our trustees, Ruth Gracey, had the opportunity to visit Uganda and meet some of the teams working on the various projects being supported by Suubi Trust.
Touch Namuwongo is an HIV/AIDS outreach programme reaching the communities living close to International Hospital Kampala (IHK). The team provide health education, voluntary counselling and testing and for those tested positive (they get same-day results) treatment is provided at IHK. Operational costs for this programme are subsidised by IHK and covered by a grant managed by the Civil Society Fund.
Here are our two Ruths having some fun with the local school kids.

Yes, we did have fun! We took some little stickers and gave the kids one each – they all wanted them stuck on their faces! It was a little school run on a voluntary basis in a church in the middle of Namuwongo. For the children who attend it’s probably their best chance of some basic education. The teachers were doing their best with hardly any resources. And it turned out that there were THREE Ruths involved – the main teacher (in the red top in the photos) was another Ruth!!
