Grania and Dan are getting married in March and would like this opportunity to highlight a cause that is very close to their hearts, Hope Ward.
Grania sends this message
Over the last year I have been working as a doctor with VSO in Uganda. Based in International Hospital Kampala (IHK), I worked on Hope Ward, the hospital’s 25-bed charity wing which offers free care and treatment to patients who would otherwise not be able to afford it. Over the last fourteen months I have seen some terrible cases of what happens when people are seriously unwell but have no access to healthcare. All too often these illnesses arise from easily treatable diseases.
Supporting and expanding the work of Hope Ward has the potential to radically change vulnerable people’s lives and even save them when there was thought to be no hope. The ward is open to all people throughout Uganda and treats medical, surgical and cancer cases in an international-standard environment.
Please feel free to read about some of the patients that we have treated in the last year.
