Sykes is a young talented Ugandan Artist who had always wanted to be a doctor but as fate would have it he pursued Art instead of medicine at University.

He was very happy to give his time to paint the Hope Ward because he remembers a time when the support of friends got him out of hospital and understands how Hope can make a difference to those who are ill. These are his own words:

“I was once admitted in a hospital for depression after failing my high school final exams and my treatment was to take three weeks. However, friends from church came to see me and the surprise made me jump out of the depression!! I was discharged after only three days instead of three weeks!!…If I gave a patient a simple glance of beauty this would colour their world and brighten their life and may be give hope to them again….I am moving to the United Kingdom in the next seven days, I hope to explore more art, music and to meet people!!”
