This was a 75 year old man who came to the Hope Ward with a severe and painful leg ulcer on the left leg. He had stayed home for several years and had completely refused to seek medical help.So while in the Hope Ward several investigations were done including histology of the biopsies from the wound, wound exudate culture and RBS. Upon all this, he was found to have Diabetes Mellitus which was treated appropiately in conjunction with the physician and dietician.
Two weeks later, the ulcer was much better and he was discharged having learnt how to administer his own insulin for his high blood glucose levels.
