Suubi Trust is working with Hand of Help to establish an HIV – AIDS outreach programme in Lira.
In Lira 25% of those tested are showing HIV positive, which is very high. There is very little care for these people in the region and what there is, is really over-stretched. Our plan would be to do community outreach in which we offer counselling and testing (VCT). For those that show HIV positive we then provide the drugs required to treat the HIV (ARVs) and offer any other treatments needed for secondary conditions.
Hands of Help has pledged £3,000 to meet the salary costs for the Clinical Officer, the lab and outreach costs.

Suubi Trust has pledged £2,500; £1,000 to meet the salary costs for the Project Nurse, who will help do the VCT and treatments and £1,500 to cover the cost of drugs and treatments.
