Hope Ward started providing care in May 2006. These are the numbers from its first year:
Hope Ward provided care to more than 250 patients.

The operational costs for Hope Ward are subsidised by IHK, e.g. HW does not pay rent or contribute to the capital costs of establishing the required infrastructure; allocated costs of providing care, including drugs and surgery, are made at zero margin, the equivalent of a 30% subsidy.

Cost of running Hope Ward: UGX 327,355,395 (GBP 99,484)
Hope Ward receives funding from Corporate Sponsors (83%), Fund Raising (16%) and contributions from patients (1%).
Funding received in Year 1: UGX 149,411,600 (GBP 45,406)
Thus in its first year Hope Ward had a gap in funding which was met by explicit budget transfer from IHK:
Funding met by IHK in Year 1: UGX 177,943,795 (GBP 54,077).
In its second year Hope Ward is likely to have a similar shortfall in funding of about GBP 50,000 which it is now seeking from supporters and sponsors in the UK through Suubi Trust.
